Noncompact, Gauge-Invariant Simulations of U(1), SU(2), and SU(3) ∗

چکیده
We have applied a new noncompact, gauge-invariant, Monte Carlo method to simulate the U(1), SU(2), and SU(3) gauge theories on 84 and 124 lattices. For U(1) the Creutz ratios of the Wilson loops agree with the exact results for β ≥ 0.5 after a renormalization of the charge. The SU(2) and SU(3) Creutz ratios robustly display quark confinement at β = 0.5 and β = 2, respectively. At much weaker coupling, the SU(2) and SU(3) Creutz ratios agree with perturbation theory after a renormalization of the coupling constant. For SU(3) without quarks, our lattice QCD parameter is ΛL = 130 ± 18 MeV. Research supported by the U. S. Department of Energy under contracts DE-FG0484ER40166 and DE-FG03-92ER40732/A004 (task B). Gauge Invariance and Confinement in Noncompact Simulations of Su(2)
In 1980 Creutz [1] displayed quark confinement at moderate coupling in lattice simulations of both abelian and nonabelian gauge theories. Whether nonabelian confinement is as much an artifact of Wilson’s action as is abelian confinement remains unclear. The basic variables of Wilson’s formulation [2] are elements of a compact group and enter the action only through traces of their products. The...

متن کاملGenerations of Quarks and Leptons from Noncompact Horizontal Symmetry
The three chiral generations of quarks and leptons may be generated through a spontaneous breakdown of the noncompact horizontal gauge symmetry GH which governs, together with the standard gauge symmetry SU(3)× SU(2)× U(1), the world in a vectorlike manner. In a framework of supersymmetric theory, the simplest choice GH = SU(1, 1) works quite well for this scenario in which quarks, leptons and ...

We explain why compact U (1) confines and how to fix it. We show that plaquettes of negative trace carry most of the confinement signal in compact SU (2). We show how to perform noncompact gauge-invariant simulations without auxiliary fields. We suggest a way to simulate fermions without doublers.

Non-commutative field theory as a theory including the Lorentz violation can be constructed in two different ways. In the first method, the non-commutative fields are the same as the ordinary ones while the gauge group is restricted to U(n). For example, the symmetry group of standard model in non-commutative space is U(3)×(2)×U(1) which can be reduced to SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1) by two appropriate spo...
